SAN ANGELO, TX — A Carlsbad man has been indicted for manslaughter and evading arrest causing death after running from police, crashing his vehicle, and killing two passengers.
According to reports, Jayden Zane Sanchez-Ayala, 19, has been indicted on two counts of manslaughter and two counts of evading arrest or detention causing death. Both his passengers, Jesus Manuel Silva, 18, and Matthew Allen Reyes, 20, were killed in the crash on US 87 heading toward Wall.
According to a release by the DPS, the crash occurred on April 22, 2025, around 9:55 p.m. when a white Dodge Challenger was racing another vehicle southbound on US 87. Troopers attempted a traffic stop, and the Challenger fled and turned off its lights.
Radios indicated that the chase reaches speeds over 110 miles per hour before losing control near the intersection of Wilde Road. The vehicle went airborne after striking a guardrail and then rolling several times before coming to a stop.
Sanchez-Ayala was transported to Shannon Medical Center with serious injuries and now has been booked into the Tom Green County Jail on $400,000 bond.
