Missing Christoval Man Found Dead Near Mineral Wells Crossing; Gunshot Wound Reported

 

SAN ANGELO, TX— A man reported missing in the Christoval area was found dead with an apparent gunshot wound Thursday afternoon near Mineral Wells Crossing, according to the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office.

At about 12:20 p.m. today, the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office was notified of a body discovered in the area of Mineral Wells Crossing. Deputies responded to the scene and located the body of a deceased male with an apparent gunshot wound.

A firearm was recovered in close proximity to the individual.

While the identity of the subject is believed to be known, formal identification is pending an autopsy to be conducted by the Texas Panhandle Forensics office.

The body was discovered in connection with a man who had been reported missing in the Christoval area several days ago.

At this time, the investigation remains active, and no further information is being released pending the outcome of the autopsy, positive identification, and notification of next of kin.

The Tom Green County Sheriff's Office extends its condolences to the family and asks the public to respect their privacy during this difficult time.
