Fugitive Arrested Without Incident After Tom Green County SRT Executes 'High-Risk' Warrant

SAN ANGELO, TX — A San Angelo fugitive accused of evading law enforcement on firearm charges was arrested without incident after the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office launched a "high-risk" operation at a home on North Bishop Street.

Steven A. West, 43, was taken into custody by the Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team (SRT) during the execution of a search and arrest warrant at 216 N. Bishop. West, considered a flight risk, was wanted on charges including Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

The operation followed a coordinated investigation by the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division. Due to West’s criminal history, the SRT was deployed to ensure the safety of officers and the public, the sheriff's office stated.

West was booked into the Tom Green County Detention Center, where he awaits further legal proceedings.

Sheriff Nick Hanna commended the professionalism and precision of the SRT and investigators involved. "This operation is a testament to the dedication of our team and their commitment to keeping our community safe," he stated.

No injuries were reported.

"The Sheriff's Office would like to thank the community for their continued support and encourages anyone with information regarding wanted individuals to contact our office or submit tips anonymously," information stated. "The Sheriff's Office extends its appreciation to the San Angelo Police Department for its assistance in the operation."
