Abilene Murder Suspect Caught in North Carolina After Three-Month Search

ABILENE, TX — A 21-year-old man wanted in connection with a February homicide in South Abilene was captured Wednesday in North Carolina following a multi-agency investigation.

Ivonyai Cashaun Lamb, of Abilene, was arrested May 7 by the U.S. Marshals Service in Wilmington, North Carolina, with the assistance of the New Hanover County SWAT team. Lamb had been on the run since being named a suspect in the Feb. 7 killing of 46-year-old Ramiel Sanders at the Cedar Creek apartment complex.

Lamb will be extradited to Abilene to face a murder charge, according to the Abilene Police Department.

Authorities also arrested Lamb’s sister, Keighvoucia Lamb, in Abilene on April 29. She is charged with aggravated assault. Both siblings were previously featured on the Abilene Crime Stoppers Most Wanted list.

The Abilene Police Department credited public tips and collaboration from the U.S. Marshals Service Abilene Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, Killeen Police Department, and the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina for the arrest.
