San Angelo Woman Indicted on Three Counts of Lewd Abuse of a Child

SAN ANGELO, TX — A San Angelo woman has been indicted for sexually abusing a child.

Emily Poage, 35, of San Angelo, was indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury on three counts of sexual assault of a child. Poage is accused of three different sexual assaults on three different occasions on Dec. 22, 2024, Jan. 3, 2025, and Jan. 28, 2025.

According to court documents, on Dec. 22, 2024, the victim went to Poage’s residence to watch a movie with her. The victim said Poage turned towards them and started smiling and laughing before taking off her shirt. Poage then took off the victim’s pants, causing them to be confused.

The victim stated that they knew what was going on, but they could not do anything and “froze” while Poage assaulted them. The victim said they remembered the date because they met Poage when she took her son to the hospital.

On Jan. 3, 2025, the victim said they went to Poage’s house to watch a movie again. She allegedly sexually assaulted the victim and only stopped because her son, who was asleep on the floor next to the bed, woke up.

Poage told the victim to leave around 11:20 p.m. that night.

Then, on Jan. 28, 2025, the victim went to Poage’s residence and said she told them, “You’re going to do this, or I am going to tell your parents you’ve been sneaking over here." The victim said that Poage began kissing them at this point.

Poage grabbed the victim’s sides and allegedly said, “This is going to be fun," before sexually assaulting the victim.

The victim said they remembered this date because it was right after a family member’s birthday.

Poage was arrested on March 7, 2025, and is currently an inmate in the Tom Green County Jail being held on $150,000 bond.
