FORT WORTH, TX — A Fort Worth man who was found covered in blood and holding a Bible told police he had killed his mother and dog during an “exorcism,” according to an arrest affidavit obtained by USA Today.
Officers with the Fort Worth Police Department were called to a home on the 9900 block of Farmers Branch Street around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday after an anonymous tipster reported a disturbing Snapchat image that appeared to show a woman covered in blood.
When police arrived, they encountered 23-year-old Alexander Taylor Valdez on the front porch. He allegedly stated, “It was an exorcism,” and claimed he was covered in blood because he “was doing witchcraft to kill my mom.”
Inside the home, officers found 58-year-old Teresita Sayson and a dog dead in the master bedroom. According to local media reports, Sayson had suffered trauma to the face and upper body, injuries consistent with a blunt force object. Both victims were pronounced deceased at the scene.
A blood-covered jewelry box was found nearby, along with human hair matching Sayson’s appearance.
Valdez was taken into custody at the scene and later declined to answer questions from investigators. He is being held at the Tarrant County Jail on a murder charge, with bond set at $750,000.
