COLEMAN, TX — Two Runnels County residents were arrested early Saturday morning after Coleman police responded to suspicious activity at a local storage facility and uncovered methamphetamine and suspected stolen property.
According to Coleman Police Chief Marty Baker, Officer Seth Wilson was on patrol around 4:30 a.m. April 12 when he spotted unusual activity at ABC Storage Units in the 1200 block of South Concho Street. The officer contacted two individuals at the scene, later identified as Bradley Horton, 36, and Gayla Carlisle, 46.
During the investigation, Officer Wilson discovered that locks had been cut from two storage units, with one lock found near the suspects’ vehicle. Officer Jeff Baker and K-9 Rino were called to the scene, and the police dog alerted on the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine and property believed to have been stolen from the units. Officers also found multiple tools, including at least two pairs of bolt cutters.
Horton and Carlisle were charged with burglary of a building and possession of a controlled substance. Both were booked into the Coleman County Jail and are being held on $15,000 bond each for the Coleman County charges.
In addition to those charges, Horton faces a blue warrant and a Runnels County warrant for criminal trespass.
In Texas, a blue warrant is a type of arrest warrant issued by the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles when a parolee is suspected of violating their parole agreement. It essentially initiates the process to revoke parole. A blue warrant allows law enforcement to arrest and detain the parolee, and there is no bail available.
Both suspects remained in custody at the time of the department’s news release.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
