Woman Leads Law Enforcement on High-Speed Chase from West Texas Into New Mexico

ANDREWS COUNTY, TX — A woman is facing numerous charges after she led law enforcement on a high-speed chase from Andrews County in West Texas into Lea County in New Mexico on Monday night.

According to the Andrews County Sheriff’s Office, it received a call about 5 p.m. Monday regarding a stolen Ford F-250, which was driving northbound on US 385 five miles south of Andrews.

Deputies located the vehicle on State Highway 176 west of Andrews and attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver refused to pull over.

Officials say deputies found the suspected stolen vehicle on State Highway 176 in Andrews. ACSO initiated a traffic stop, but the driver did not comply.

The driver then took law enforcement on a chase that reached speeds of 90 miles per hour across the state line into New Mexico.

The Andrews Police Department and Andrews County Fire Marshal reportedly helped in the pursuit.

The driver eventually turned northbound onto New Mexico State Highway 18 and drove through tire deflation devices that were deployed to stop the vehicle.

About a mile south of Hobbs, the driver collided with a parked car on the east side of the highway before hitting a building, according to the Andrews County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver, Jasmine Jaramillo, 27, was arrested at the scene.

Jaramillo is being charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading arrest in a motor vehicle and reckless driving in Texas, officials say.

Charges for Jaramillo are pending in New Mexico.

The driver of the parked vehicle and the suspect were taken to a local hospital for unspecified injuries.

Jaramillo is being detained at the Lea County Detention Center in New Mexico.
