SAN ANGELO, TX — The Tom Green County Sheriff's Office is proud to announce the successful sentencing of three significant federal cases investigated by its deputies, culminating in lengthy prison terms for individuals involved in serious criminal activity affecting our region.
On March 31, 2025, in Lubbock federal court, U.S. District Judge James Wesley Hendrix issued the following sentences:
James Wilson was sentenced to 600 months (50 years) in federal prison for the production and transportation of child pornography. Investigator Nick Hammer led the investigation, demonstrating exceptional diligence and collaboration with federal partners. His efforts were instrumental in securing what amounts to a life sentence for Wilson.
Gabriel Wilkins received a sentence of 228 months (19 years) for possession to distribute methamphetamine over 50 grams. Deputy Michael Farmer relentlessly pursued the case, even as it expanded into a wider regional theft ring. His commitment ensured a successful prosecution on federal drug charges when other avenues closed.
Clarence Simmons was sentenced to 210 months (17.5 years) for possession and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine over 5 grams. Deputies Ty Kimery and Orlando Juarez played key roles in executing search warrants, gathering intelligence, and handling evidence that led to a federal indictment and successful conviction.
"These cases reflect the tenacity, professionalism, and expertise of the men and women of the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office," said Sheriff Nick Hanna. "I'm incredibly proud of Investigators Hammer, Farmer, Kimery, and Juarez for their tireless work and for protecting our community from dangerous individuals who sought to do harm."
The Sheriff's Office also extends its appreciation to the Federal Bureau of Investigation - San Angelo Office and the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Texas for their ongoing partnership and support in bringing these criminals to justice.
"These sentences send a clear and strong message-if you bring crime into Tom Green County, we will work with every resource available to ensure you are held fully accountable," Hanna added.

I applaud Tom Green County Sherriff's Dept and Judge Hendrix for a job well done. When there is no punishment, there is no fear and the next criminal won't hesitate to commit the same crime.
