San Angelo Teen Takes Plea Deal for Selling THC Vapes to High Schoolers

SAN ANGELO, TX — An 18-year-old San Angelo man has agreed to a plea deal for manufacturing or delivering THC vape pens, the psychoactive substance in cannabis.

Adrian Rodriguez pleaded guilty to Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance between 4 and 400 grams.

According to court documents, a DPS trooper stopped Rodriguez on April 23, 2024, at 9:47 p.m. near 18th Street and Main Street for driving a red Hyundai without headlights. During the stop, the trooper noticed a vape pen on Rodriguez’s lap, leading to his arrest.

A probable cause search of the vehicle uncovered numerous THC vape pens in the center console and a gun positioned between the console and the driver’s seat. Rodriguez allegedly admitted to selling the vape pens to high school students for profit.

Based on Rodriguez’s statements and the evidence collected, the trooper concluded the gun was used to protect his illicit products.

Rodriguez has agreed to four years of deferred adjudication in exchange for his guilty plea. The deal awaits judicial approval.
