FORT WORTH, TX — A Texas woman intentionally drove her car into the Trinity River in Fort Worth, killing herself and her 1-year-old son, according to police.
The announcement was made Friday, nearly two weeks after Fort Worth police responded to reports of a car going into the river near the intersection of Beach Street and East Freeway.
The driver, Melanie Robinson, 38, was pulled from the water and taken to a hospital in critical condition, where she died three days later.
The child, Jonas Allen, was found in the river the day after the crash.
Police confirmed to Dallas TV station WFAA that the child’s death was ruled a homicide “due to the totality of the circumstances in the investigation.”
Police said they could not comment further on details of the investigation, including what family members and witnesses shared, along with Robinson’s medical history.
