San Angelo Police Officer Injured During Arrest of Suspect

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – An officer with the San Angelo Police Department was injured Friday morning during the arrest of a suspect, according to SAPD.

The officer, whose identity was not released, was transported to Shannon Medical Center for treatment. No update has been given on his condition.

The officer was responding to a call at about 9:30 a.m. regarding suspicious suspects at Alamo Village Apartments, 4459 Green Valley Trail, according to the SAPD release.

Upon arrival, officers identified a male individual matching the description.

During the course of the investigation, officers attempted to detain the suspect. However, the individual began resisting arrest, leading to a physical altercation that injured the officer.

The suspect, identified as Paul Garcia, 38, was taken into custody and charged with three county warrants, failure to identify, resisting arrest and evading arrest or detention.

Due to minor injuries sustained during the struggle, Garcia was also taken to the hospital for evaluation and medical clearance before being transported to the Tom Green County Jail.
