Reagan County Drilling Rig Stabbing Suspect Captured in Smith County

REAGAN COUNTY, TX – The Reagan County Sheriff’s Office announced that Tony Antwan Bingham, 39, is in custody following a fatal stabbing at a drilling rig site in North Reagan County.

Authorities had issued an active murder warrant for Bingham, who was wanted in connection with the death of a 27-year-old co-worker on Tuesday evening. This happened at a remote drilling location off FM 2600 near the Sterling County line, where Bingham and two other men, all from Mississippi, were living in a travel trailer.

The altercation began as a verbal dispute while the men were cooking. The situation escalated into a physical fight, during which Bingham allegedly stabbed the victim multiple times with a steak knife before fleeing on foot.

Deputies responded to a 911 call around 5:50 p.m. and found the victim deceased at the scene. Authorities recovered the suspected murder weapon.

In an update, officials confirmed he was located and taken into custody in Smith County.
