Deputies Seize Marijuana in Two Traffic Stops on Highway 87, Arrest Two

 

TOM GREEN COUNTY — Deputies with the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office arrested two men and seized illegal substances in separate traffic stops on U.S. Highway 87.

The first stop took place just before midnight on March 13, just south of San Angelo. Deputies developed probable cause to search the vehicle, leading to the arrest of Joseph Ellis, 47, of Eden. Ellis was charged with possession of marijuana (2 to 4 ounces) and possession of a controlled substance (Penalty Group 2) over 400 grams, identified as approximately 350 grams of THC.

The second stop occurred around 3:30 a.m. on March 14, just south of Grape Creek. Deputies conducted a search and arrested Joseph Carey, 34, of San Antonio. Carey was charged with possession of marijuana (4 ounces to 5 pounds) and possession of a controlled substance (Penalty Group 2) over 400 grams.

"The Tom Green County Sheriff's Office remains committed to keeping illegal substances off our streets and ensuring the safety of our community through proactive measures, including traffic law enforcement," information from the sheriff's office stated.
