COLLEGE STATION, TX — Police recovered nearly $10,000 worth of merchandise and arrested a husband and wife suspected of targeting Walgreens and other businesses in Texas and beyond.
Officers with the College Station Police Department’s CSTEP unit and patrol division, working with Plano police and Walgreens Asset Protection investigators, located the suspects at a Walgreens on William D. Fitch Parkway before 6 p.m. Both individuals had outstanding warrants and were taken into custody.
Maria Stoican had seven active warrants, including theft-related charges from Burleson, Euless, Grapevine, and Harris County, as well as shoplifting and retail theft charges in Illinois. She also had an outstanding warrant in California and faces a local charge of Failure to Identify Fugitive.
Emmanuel Stoican was wanted in Harris County for theft of property valued between $100 and $750. He is also facing an additional charge for possession of marijuana.
Officers recovered 882 items from Walgreens, valued at nearly $10,000, police said.
The Stoicans’ children, an infant and a 2-year-old, were with them at the time of their arrest. Child Protective Services took custody of the children.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police said additional details will be released at a later time.
