San Angelo Man Indicted for Shooting at Driver on Houston Harte

SAN ANGELO, TX — A San Angelo man has been indicted after allegedly smiling before pulling the trigger in a highway shooting on Houston Harte.

George Torres Jr., 55, has been indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

On Oct. 30, 2024, San Angelo police responded to a shooting call where a victim reported that a man in a white passenger car fired at them on Houston Harte after an altercation on the road.

The victim provided a license plate number, which led officers to an address on Wilshire Place, where Torres was identified as the suspect.

Torres later admitted to firing twice at the victim’s vehicle with a .380 handgun, though he claimed he believed the victim was trying to run him off the road.

Torres was arrested the same day and released on a $65,000 bond. His jury trial is set for June 16, 2025.
