Suspect Caught After Allegedly Attacking Woman and Stealing Her Car in Abilene

 

ABILENE, TX – A man was arrested Monday after allegedly assaulting a woman and stealing her vehicle outside a Denny’s restaurant in North Abilene, according to police.

This happened around 2:15 p.m. on March 3, 2025, at the Denny’s located at East Overland Trail and Westlake Road near FM 600. Authorities say the suspect, described as a Black male with a beard, partial mustache, and a white baseball-style hat, attacked the owner of a 2014 Santa Fe, striking her multiple times before taking her vehicle and fleeing the scene.

Officers launched a search for the stolen vehicle, which was later found in Jones County near County Road 323 and Highway 6. Jones County law enforcement stopped the vehicle and took the suspect into custody.

The suspect has been identified as 27-year-old Jarnac Napoleon Vandervilt, a transient in the Abilene area. He is charged with second-degree felony robbery and is being held in the Taylor County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
