San Angelo Man Indicted for Continuous Abuse of a Child

SAN ANGELO, TX — A San Angelo man has been indicted for sexual abuse of a child.

Leonel Rodriguez, 60, of San Angelo, has been indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14.

According to court documents, on Sept. 25, 2024, an officer with the San Angelo Police Department had taken a report of sexual abuse of a child. The officer stated that the child victim made an outcry of sexual abuse to her mother.

The mother confronted the defendant, identified as Leonel Rodriguez, who allegedly admitted to the sex abuse.

At the Hope House, the detective spoke to the outcry witness and again said the child claimed to have been sexually abused by Rodriguez on Sept. 25, 2024.

During the forensic interview with the child victim, they claimed that Rodriguez had sexually abused them multiple times from Oct. 1, 2023, until the last incident on Sept. 24, 2024.

Rodriguez was arrested on Sept. 26, 2024, and has been an inmate in the Tom Green County Jail since being held on a $175,000 bond.
