SAN ANGELO, TX— A San Angelo teenager has been indicted for exhibiting a firearm at Central High School.
Julian Torres, 17, was indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for exhibiting a firearm on campus or a school bus.
According to court documents, on Nov. 12, 2024, around 12:40 p.m., a San Angelo police officer was dispatched regarding a fight between three males on the Central High School campus near the ROTC building. The officer learned after speaking with two of the juveniles involved that the third individual was unknown.
The officer was then contacted by another juvenile who reported that he was in gymnastics class and has seen a teenager that matched the description of the unknown individual involved in the fight. This juvenile was in the bathroom and asked the other if he was OK, to which the male said, “I’m going to handle my business." He then lifted his hoodie to display the grip of a black handgun.
After seeing the firearm, the juvenile reported it to officers and added that the man who displayed the firearm had blood all over his face.
Security footage was reviewed, and it showed the unknown male, who was eventually identified as Torres, approaching the other two individuals who were involved, in the hallways and then following them to the ROTC building.
At 12:34 p.m., Torres confronted one of the males and began punching him. The footage showed that the fight lasted around two minutes. About six minutes later, Torres was seen walking out of the gym and leaving campus.
On Nov. 13, 2024, officers conducted a follow-up interview with Torres at his residence. Torres allegedly admitted to being involved in a fight at Central High School the day prior with two other students. The detective seized two handguns and a shotgun from the residence.
The investigator observed that Torres had a fresh abrasion on the right side of this face, and a black hoodie was also located with blood stains on it.
Torres was arrested on Nov. 13, 2024, and was released on Dec. 24, 2024, on $55,000 bond.
