Sonora Police Searching for Wanted Felon After High-Speed Chase

SONORA, TX — A high-speed chase involving a stolen vehicle ended early Sunday morning after the driver, identified as wanted felon Otis Babb, fled on foot near the YFZ Ranch in Schleicher County, according to the Sonora Police Department.

The pursuit began around 4 a.m. when Texas Department of Public Safety troopers spotted a stolen vehicle traveling south on Highway 277 between Christoval and Eldorado. Babb, from Sonora, was reportedly behind the wheel, with a female passenger believed to be Sandra Zaragoza, who is also wanted on felony charges.

Authorities attempted to stop the vehicle, but Babb allegedly led officers on a chase down County Road 300 before abandoning the vehicle near the ranch. Both the DPS and Schleicher County Sheriff’s Office are actively searching for Babb, who is considered armed and dangerous.

Officials are urging the public not to approach Babb if spotted and to contact 9-1-1 immediately to report his location.

Non-emergency tips can be reported by calling the Sonora Police Department at 325-387-2558.
