14-Year-Old Arrested After Shooting 12-Year-Old in Big Spring

 

BIG SPRING, TX – A 12-year-old remains in critical condition after being shot by a 14-year-old boy in Big Spring on Feb. 16, according to police.

Big Spring officers responded to the 100 block of E. 20th Street at around 11:45 p.m. and found the 12-year-old with a gunshot wound. The child was initially taken to Scenic Mountain Medical Center by Allegiance EMS before being flown to Covenant UMC in Lubbock for further treatment.

Investigators identified the suspect as a 14-year-old male, who was taken into custody at around 10 a.m. on Feb. 18.

Police determined the firearm used in the shooting had been stolen from an unlocked vehicle. Authorities said most firearm thefts in the city involve unsecured vehicles and urged residents to remove weapons and lock their doors.

The investigation is ongoing, and no further details have been released.
