ROWENA, TX – Antonio Diaz, the 27-year-old suspect involved in a high-speed pursuit through Tom Green and Runnels counties on January 25, is now in custody, according to the Runnels County Sheriff’s Office.
Diaz was arrested on January 27 around 8 p.m. and is currently being held at the Runnels County Jail.
The chase began when deputies attempted a traffic stop on a black Cadillac near San Angelo. The vehicle fled north on US 67 at speeds exceeding 100 mph, during which several items were observed being thrown from the car. The pursuit ended in Rowena, where the vehicle was abandoned, and the suspects fled on foot.
Recovered from the scene and surrounding areas were 116 grams of methamphetamine and a loaded AR-15 rifle.
Diaz, who was identified as the driver, was wanted on multiple felony warrants, including:
- Evading Arrest with a Vehicle
- Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon
- Tampering with Physical Evidence
- Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance
Diaz is being held without bond.
