Snyder ISD Closes Schools Following Email Threats

SNYDER, TX – Snyder Independent School District canceled classes on Thursday, Jan. 16, after receiving threats late Wednesday night.

An email containing specific threats against the district was sent to Snyder ISD school board members shortly after 11 p.m., prompting an immediate investigation by the Snyder Police Department and other law enforcement agencies.

Authorities have not yet determined enough information to issue an “all clear” for the start of classes, leading the superintendent to cancel school to ensure the safety of students and staff while the investigation continues.

“We understand this decision may cause an inconvenience, but we appreciate your understanding as we take every precaution to protect our school community," the district stated in a release. "We will provide additional updates as more information becomes available."
