Brownwood Man Arrested for Seriously Injuring a 10-Month-Old

 

BROWNWOOD, TX— A Brownwood man has been arrested after a young infant was rushed to the emergency room with serious injuries.

According to a release by the Brownwood Police Department, on Monday, December 30, 2024, Hendricks Medical Center staff contacted the Brownwood Police Department when an unresponsive 10-month-old was brought to the emergency room by the child’s mother. After an examination, a very serious head injury was discovered on the child.

The child was flown to Cook’s Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth after lifesaving measures to taken to stabilize the infant.

An investigation was started, and detectives were contacted by Child Protective Services regarding the same situation. Detectives went to a residence in Brownwood and met with the infant’s mother and her boyfriend, identified as 22-year-old Steven Wayne Peacock Jr. 

In an interview, Peacock agreed to speak with detective and allegedly admitted to physically abusing the infant. Child Protective Services removed three other children, all of them younger than 10, from the home.

Peacock was arrested and charged with Injury to a Child and fore two warrants.
