No, There Isn’t a Serial Killer Knocking on Doors in Odessa

ODESSA, TX - The Odessa Police Department has refuted social media claims suggesting that a man named Robert Thibodeau is a serial killer knocking on doors in the city.

Police confirmed the rumors are false and labeled the posts as harmful misinformation.

“These posts are intended to cause unwarranted public harm and have been determined to be false,” the department stated in an official announcement Monday.

The origin of the hoax remains unclear, and police have provided no further details at this time.

If you Google "Robert Thibodeau," another news article from Florida appears and shows that the same scam is happening across the states.

The post began circulating on Facebook in early December 2024 and claims that a serial killer is attacking communities.

The viral post claims the man knocks on people’s doors, saying he is homeless before attacking his victims. It also claims he used a knife to attack a mother and stole a vehicle from a grandmother while pretending to help her with groceries.
