SAN ANGELO, TX — A San Angelo man has been arrested after allegedly sexually assaulting a young teenager.
Miguel Ruiz, 18, of San Angelo, was arrested on Dec. 5, 2024, for aggravated sexual assault of a child.
According to court documents, on Dec. 1, 2024, investigators spoke with a patrol officer who advised he was informed by a witness that a child made an outcry of sexual assault by Ruiz. On the same date, a forensic interview of the child victim was conducted at the Hope House where the child victim said Ruiz had sexually assaulted her around 1:30 a.m. on Dec. 1, 2024.
The investigator interviewed the witness who said she was contacted by a woman and that she needed to pick up the child victim on December 1 because the child had been assaulted by Ruiz. The witness went to pick up the child and take her back to her residence where the victim told the woman she had been sexually assaulted.
The same day, the investigator conducted a consensual search of the residence where the sexual assault occurred and collected clothing items the child victim had detailed during her forensic interview.
The investigator then reviewed the sexual assault forensic documentation that revealed evidence of a sexual assault.
On Dec. 3, 2024, the investigator spoke with the woman who called the witness, and she stated she had gone out of town on Saturday, Nov. 30, and left the child victim with Ruiz. When she returned on December 1, the child informed through a text message that Ruiz had assaulted her.
The woman then contacted the witness and asked her to come pick up the child.
Ruiz was arrested on December 5, 2024, on an aggravated sexual assault of a child charge and has a $150,000 bond.
