SAN ANGELO, TX— A San Angelo man has been arrested for threatening a woman with a sword.
Saul Arellano, 49, of San Angelo, has been arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon after threatening a woman with a three-foot sword.
According to court documents, on December 3, 2024, San Angelo police responded to the 2500 block of Abilene Street regarding a disturbance. When officers arrived, they located Arellano in the alleyway. He began to run away from police and made it about 75 feet before he stopped running.
Arellano began swinging the sword and officers drew their service weapon. He screamed at the officers to shoot him and shortly after, dropped the sword and complied with officer’s orders.
Officers spoke with the victim who said Arellano was upset and began yelling at her. He had the sword in hand and began making a stabbing motion and threatened to kill the victim. When Arellano came at her with the sword, she was in fear for her life.
Then, officers spoke with a witness who observed Arellano with a sword in the front door of a residence and stated he was yelling at the victim. Investigators attempted to speak with Arellano, but he refused to speak with anyone.
The sword, which was a long sword approximately three feet in length, was on the ground near where Arellano was taken into custody.
Arellano was arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Jail for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and is being held on a $100,000 bond.
