Former ‘Deputy of the Year’ Arrested for DUI After Directing Nonexistent Traffic

LIZELLA, GA - A Georgia deputy who once received a “Deputy of the Year” award was arrested for DUI last week after allegedly attempting to direct traffic outside an elementary school, despite there being no cars present, according to authorities.

The deputy, identified as Garrison Page, was reportedly found outside Skyview Elementary School in Lizella, Georgia, on Nov. 19, dressed in plain clothes and using a patrol car. When Houston County Sheriff’s deputies questioned him about his actions, Page allegedly responded, “None of your business.” Witnesses reported that Page appeared intoxicated and was talking to himself while directing imaginary traffic.

Board of Education officers on the scene reported that Page smelled of alcohol, leading to his detention. Inside his patrol car, officers allegedly found an open can of Mike’s Harder Lemonade and an unopened can of Natural Light beer. Page refused to take a breath test and was reportedly uncooperative during a blood test attempt at the Bibb County Jail, even trying to remove a needle from his arm, according to the incident report.

Authorities secured a warrant to draw blood for testing, though the results have not yet been released. Page was booked on DUI charges and later released. Houston County Sheriff’s officials confirmed that Page, who joined the department just eight days prior to his arrest, has been suspended and is facing termination proceedings.

Page previously earned recognition as “Deputy of the Year” in 2019 while working for Bibb County.
