HOUSTON, TX - A Texas woman is accused of luring her boyfriend to a scenic field under the pretense of reminiscing about a romantic sunset before shooting him multiple times, apologizing afterward for her poor aim, according to court documents.
Alexys Pinto, 23, faces an aggravated assault charge in connection with the September 5 attack on Elvis Munoz, 24, near State Highway 288 and Airport Boulevard in Houston. Munoz, who survived gunshot wounds to his chest, hand, and back, told authorities he initially believed Pinto wanted to visit the spot to enjoy a moment together.
According to investigators, the pair had argued earlier that day when one of Munoz’s clients arrived at their home for auto repair work. Pinto allegedly grew enraged and, after a heated confrontation, insisted on visiting the field where they had once watched a sunset. Munoz agreed and drove her there.
Once at the location, Pinto reportedly asked Munoz to teach her about deer hunting before shooting him in the chest. When he tried to escape, Pinto allegedly fired again, striking him in the hand. Court documents state that as Munoz lay on the ground bleeding, Pinto apologized, saying, “I didn’t mean to do you like that; I didn’t shoot you in the right places.”
Munoz begged her to call for help, and after some delay, she allegedly assisted him in reaching a nearby gas station, where bystanders called 911. Pinto was arrested on September 20 on an unrelated disturbance call, during which authorities discovered the outstanding warrant for her arrest.
Munoz underwent surgery to remove a bullet from his back.
Pinto’s bail, initially set at $75,000, was lowered to $10,000. Law enforcement has not provided a motive for the shooting.
