2-Month-Old Hospitalized, Midland Man Arrested for Injury to a Child

 

MIDLAND, TX — A 2-month-old child was hospitalized with potentially life-threatening injuries after an alleged case of abuse in Midland.

Authorities arrested Malachi James Kendrick, 19, on charges of injury to a child causing serious bodily injury, according to the Midland County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies and investigators responded to Midland Memorial Hospital on Nov. 17 following a report of child abuse. The infant was later transported to Covenant Children’s Hospital in Lubbock for treatment. 

Investigators determined that Kendrick was in possession of the child when the injuries occurred. He was subsequently arrested and booked into the Midland County Central Detention Center.

Sheriff David Criner emphasized the department’s dedication to protecting women and children from harm.

Kendrick remains in custody as the investigation continues.
