HOUSTON, TX – Three people are facing charges after allegedly locking a 6-year-old child in a dryer and activating the machine, according to Harris County Precinct 4.
Haven Duncan, 18, appeared in court Tuesday on child endangerment charges. Authorities reported that video footage shows Duncan placing the child in a dryer at a laundromat on Kuykendahl Road, with the dryer running for about a minute before the child was released. The incident allegedly followed the child’s distress over losing a bag of chips.
Two others, Life Ford and Jaqory Gill, were also charged in connection with the case. Ford reportedly held the dryer door closed while Gill inserted money to start the dryer, according to court testimony.
Deputies arrived to find the child visibly shaken. Duncan was detained at the scene, and deputies seized a firearm from him. Ford was charged with interfering with public duties and received a $100 bond, while Gill, who allegedly tried to evade police on foot, was charged with evading arrest with a $100 bond.
The 6-year-old has been released to a guardian and is reported to be safe.
