SAN ANGELO, TX— A San Angelo man has been arrested for slapping a six-month-old child several times.
Hunter Pitcher, 29, of San Angelo, was arrested Nov. 6, 2024, and charged with injury to a child.
According to court documents, an investigator reviewed video camera footage from inside a residence. In the footage, Pitcher was observed slapping the six-month-old infant across the face hard enough to cause the child to scream out in pain and cause the bouncing chair the child was sitting in to be visibly forced downwards.
About 20 minutes later, Pitcher was seen hitting the infant in the face again but with not as much force as the first time. Again, the child cried out in pain and the bouncing chair was forced down again. Pitcher walked around the chair and hit the child approximately three times in the mouth.
The investigator interviewed the mother who said on Oct. 31, 2024, around 5:20 a.m., she was getting ready for work, and she was also getting her 2-year-old ready for daycare while Pitcher was watching the infant. She and her 2-year-old left the residence around 5:50 a.m. At about 8:30 a.m., she checked the notifications from the surveillance video and watched Pitcher strike the infant.
The mother spoke with an employee with the Family Advocacy Center at Goodfellow Air Force Base on Nov. 5, and a CPS report was filed that day.
Pitcher was arrested on Nov. 6, 2024, for injury to a child and is currently an inmate in the Tom Green County Jail being held on $75,000 bond.
