Law Enforcement in Sonora Searching for Suspect After High-Speed Pursuit

SONORA, TX — Police are actively searching for Otis Layne Babb, 59, who remains at large after a high-speed pursuit and crash Tuesday evening.

Sonora Police Department reported that around 9:30 p.m., Babb crashed his vehicle and fled on foot near the intersection of the 397 westbound exit and the I-10 Service Road.

The pursuit began when Chief Donald Fernandez attempted to initiate a traffic stop at Concho and Poplar. Babb reportedly evaded the stop, leading police on a chase that ended with him abandoning the vehicle after the crash.

Babb, described as a white male wearing a red long-sleeve shirt, blue jeans, a black cap, and sporting a red beard, is believed to be within the vicinity. Authorities have advised the public not to approach Babb if spotted and to report any sightings or suspicious activity to the Sutton County Sheriff’s Office at 325-387-2288.

Law enforcement continues their search efforts for Babb.
