San Angelo Man Indicted for Kicking Pregnant Women in the Head

SAN ANGELO, TX — A San Angelo man has been indicted for kicking a pregnant woman in the head.

David Orion Dewey-Haagensen, 23, of San Angelo, was indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for Assault of a Pregnant Woman.

According to court documents, on June 10, 2024, at around 2:30 a.m., San Angelo police were dispatched to the 2900 block of San Antonio Street regarding a disturbance. When officers arrived, the victim was outside the residence and barefoot. She was evaluated by medics but refused further treatment and transportation by an ambulance.

The victim claimed that sometime after 1 a.m., she woke up to a drunk Dewey-Haagensen yelling in the back room. The victim, who was nine weeks pregnant at the time, believed Dewey-Haagensen was upset about money. She tried to quiet him down to not wake up the neighbors.

Dewey-Haagensen turned his anger towards the victim and she claimed that he grabbed her by the throat. She did grab his wrist because he was waving his arms around and she thought he would hit her.

The two ended up on the floor in the living room where Dewey-Haagensen placed his leg around her neck, and the victim ended up biting him to avoid being choked again. Then, he kicked her in the head.

Dewey-Haagensen was arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Jail June 10, 2024, and was released the next day on $35,000 bond.

On July 17, 2024, he was arrested again on warrants for Aggravated Robbery out of Travis County and has been in the Tom Green County Jail since. He is next due in court on October 1, 2024.
