SAN ANGELO, TX— A San Angelo man has been indicted for possessing lewd images of children.
Brent Baughman, 23, of San Angelo, was indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury on four counts of possession of child pornography.
According to court documents, on April 4, 2024, investigators received a cyber tip from NCMEC, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, that provided information that Baughman, under a Facebook account, uploaded three videos and seven images that contained suspected child pornography to Facebook Messenger. A phone number was attached to the cyber tip that was associated with the Facebook account as well.
The media files containing suspected child pornography were reviewed, and all 10 did contain explicit images of children.
Baughman’s name was run through TLETS, which provided his address on the 11000 block of North Grape Creek Road. On July 1, 2024, a search warrant was obtained and executed at the residence and Baughman was located living in a small structure behind the main residence.
In an interview with Baughman, he allegedly admitted to viewing and downloading child pornography onto his cellphone. He also stated that he needed “counseling” because he knew what he was doing was wrong and said that he did not have a strong male role model in his life, and that led him to watching child pornography.
Baughman also allegedly told the investigator that the youngest person depicted in the lewd images he viewed was around two years old and that he had downloaded approximately 20 media files containing explicit material involving children.
The media files Baughman allegedly downloaded contained images of children between the ages of 3 and 14 in various stages of undress performing sexual acts with either other children or adults.
Baughman was arrested July 4, 2024, and has remained in the Tom Green County Jail since on $165,000 bond.
