SAN ANGELO, TX— A San Angelo man has been arrested for threatening a victim with a gun and swinging a machete at him.
Macario Gomez, 59, of San Angelo, has been arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
According to court documents, on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 7:15 p.m., San Angelo police responded to Capri Apartments, located at 602 West Avenue M, regarding a domestic disturbance.
Officers arrived and spoke with the complainant and learned that Gomez had gotten into a verbal altercation with the victim, Gomez's nephew.
The victim arrived at Gomez’s apartment to retrieve personal belongings. Gomez told the officer that he did not want the victim at his apartment and told him to leave. Then, Gomez said that the victim physically assaulted him, but this was never corroborated.
Gomez then allegedly admitted that while he was outside arguing with the victim, he told the victim that he was going to “cut your a**” and then went inside and retrieved a large machete. Gomez exited his apartment and threatened serious bodily harm and death to the victim.
Investigators then spoke with the victim who said he did go inside Gomez’s apartment to get his items. When the victim knocked on the door, Gomez answered and had a .22 caliber revolver in his right hand and threatened to shoot the victim. He backed away from Gomez only for him to grab the machete and walk towards the victim.
While the victim was walking to his bike, Gomez allegedly swung the machete at him twice while stating that he was going to kill the victim. When Gomez swung the machete, he hit the bicycle and broke pieces off it that were observed by the investigator.
The weapons used in the assault were obtained and the revolver was loaded.
Gomez was arrested on August 10, 2024, and booked into the Tom Green County Jail where he is being held on a $35,000 bond.
