San Angelo Police Issue Public Safety Alert for Vehicle Burglaries

SAN ANGELO, TX — There were 59 vehicle burglaries reported in the San Angelo area during the month of July, according to a public safety alert by the San Angelo Police Department on Wednesday.

The majority of the burglaries — 46 of the 59 — required no force to be used because the vehicle was left unlocked.

Stolen firearms were involved in 12 of the incidents.

The SAPD reminded residents to take the following precautions:

    • Always lock your vehicle, even if you're just stepping away for a moment
    • Never leave valuables, especially firearms, in your vehicle
    • Be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to local authorities
