SAN ANGELO, TX— A San Angelo man has agreed to a plea deal after inappropriately touching a child.
Dimitrius Sewell, 26, has agreed to take a plea deal for one count of indecency with a child by sexual contact and one count of unlawful restraint of a child less than 17 years of age.
According to court documents, on October 8, 2021, a complainant reported to an officer that a child had contacted them through social media and made an outcry of being sexually abused by Sewell.
At the time the abuse outcry was made, the child victim was living with Sewell and his family. The officer contacted the guardians of the victim and the victim herself. Then, the child told the officer that she had been sexually assaulted by Sewell.
At the residence, Sewell was located and detained.
In a forensic interview with the child victim, who was 13 at the time, stated that Sewell had touched her private areas while touching himself. Sewell also grabbed the victim’s chest and bit her in a sexual manner. During this interview, the child victim also stated that she did not feel safe around Sewell and was in fear of being sexually assaulted by him.
Sewell said in a Mirandized interview that he did grab and touch the child while seeking sexual gratification.
In exchange for a guilty plea, Sewell has agreed to six years for the single count of indecency with a child by sexual contact and 5,000 days for the single count of unlawful restraint of a child less than 17 years old in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Those sentences will run concurrently.
The judge has not signed or approved the plea deal.
