FBI Seeks Public’s Help in Identifying Well-Dressed Texas Bank Robber

DALLAS, TX – The FBI’s Dallas Division is seeking the public’s assistance to identify an unknown bank robber, nicknamed the “Derby Desperado,” responsible for two recent bank heists in Texas.

The suspect is wanted for a July 3 robbery in Garland and another on July 12 in Dallas.

On July 3, at around 1:30 p.m., the suspect targeted the Texans Credit Union at 7220 Telecom Parkway, Garland, Texas.

The individual, described as a male with a light to medium complexion, entered the bank while talking loudly on a mobile phone. He then presented a robbery demand note to the teller, obtaining an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency before fleeing in a dark SUV.

The suspect struck again on July 12 at around 1:45 p.m., this time at the Capital One Bank located at 2903 Forest Lane, Dallas. Using the same method, the suspect presented a demand note and escaped with cash in a dark SUV.

The FBI has described the suspect as a male with light or white skin, green or hazel eyes, and dark, thick eyebrows. He stands between 5’7” and 5’9” with a stocky build. During the Garland robbery, he wore a dark-colored suit, white shirt, dark tie with light-colored stripes, brown shoes, and a light fedora-style hat with a dark band. He also donned a white KN95 or similar surgical mask and blue surgical gloves.

For the Dallas robbery, the suspect was seen wearing a dark-colored suit, dark shirt, and a light or yellow tie.

The FBI urges anyone with information about the “Derby Desperado” to contact FBI Dallas at 972-559-5000 or submit tips online at tips.fbi.gov. Tipsters may remain anonymous.
