Border Patrol Intercepts Bus Smuggling Undocumented Migrants

EAGLE PASS, TX — U.S. Border Patrol agents intercepted a commercial charter bus smuggling eight undocumented migrants (UDMs) at the Highway 57 Immigration Checkpoint near Eagle Pass on July 8, 2024.

The bus was operated by Durango Tours of Fort Worth and had entered the United States through the Eagle Pass Port of Entry #2.

Agents from the Eagle Pass South Station (EGS) referred the bus for secondary inspection, where the UDMs were discovered.

Custodial interviews conducted by the Del Rio Sector Tactical and Investigations Unit revealed that a facilitator instructed the UDMs to board the bus at the Pilot Truck Stop in Eagle Pass.

Authorities suspect this is a new tactic used by migrant smuggling organizations to bypass immigration inspections.

Officials remind agents to use all available resources, maintain heightened awareness, and prioritize officer safety while performing duties.
