SAN ANGELO, TX — A Grape Creek man was arrested last week for possessing child pornography.
Brent McCabe Baughman, 23, of Grape Creek, has been arrested for Possession of Child Pornography after lewd images and videos were uploaded to Facebook Messenger.
According to court documents, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children provided a cybertip to the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office that said Baughman, using Facebook, had uploaded three videos and seven images containing suspected child pornography. All 10 files were reviewed and all 10 contained obvious lewd images of children that ranged in age from 7 to 14.
Investigators searched Baughman’s name using TLETS, the Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunication System which provided Baughman’s full name and gave him Baughman’s address on the 11000 block of North Grape Creek Road.
Google was served a subpoena for account information that provided a phone number as a “gmail” account that was given with the cybertip.
A search warrant was obtained and subsequently executed at the address on the 11000 block of North Grape Creek Road, and Baughman was located in a small structure behind the main house.
An interview was conducted with Baughman where he allegedly stated that he did view and download child pornography to his cellphone. Baughman also claimed that he has a problem and needed “counseling” because he knew what he was doing was wrong.
Baughman also allegedly said that the youngest person depicted in the videos and images he had watched was around two years old. He said that he had downloaded approximately 20 media files containing child porn to his cellphone and the children in those ranged from ages 2 to 8.
The investigator described some of the files to Baughman and he allegedly confirmed he had downloaded those media files to his cellphone. Then, Baughman said he has viewed media that contained adults raping children.
Baughman was arrested on July 4, 2024, and is currently in the Tom Green County Jail and is being held on $165,000 bond.
