Arson Suspect Attempted to Burn Down Ex's Residence

SAN ANGELO, TX— Information regarding an arson suspect arrested in San Angelo has been released.

Conrad Delrio, 43, was arrested on a warrant for an arson charge.

According to court documents, on June 25, 2024, around 11:30 a.m., San Angelo police officers, along with the San Angelo Fire Department and first responders, were dispatched to the 500 block of West Avenue V regarding a structure fire.

Investigators learned that a neighbor had extinguished the fire. The fire marshal and fire investigator looked into the cause of the fire, and they determined it was was started intentionally, and natural causes and accidental causes were ruled out.

Neighbors named a possible suspect, and video surveillance was obtained. One neighbor had come out of his house and observed smoke emitting from inside the house. He told his family to call 911 while he used a hose from his residence to put out the blaze.

In the surveillance video, a male subject, identified as Delrio, was seen on the property yelling at a woman inside a vehicle.

The owner of the house said she was in a dating relationship with Delrio over a year ago, and he had come to the residence from time to time, uninvited, and had damaged her property in the past. She said Delrio did not live with her, and he did not have permission to be on the property or inside the residence.

A witness who knows Delrio by sight stated that he observed Delrio going in and out of the residence about 25 minutes before the fire occurred.

The driver of the vehicle was interviewed and said that she met with Delrio as he requested her to bring him a backpack containing his belongings to the residence on West Avenue V. When she arrived, Delrio was confrontational and upset with her because she had ended a relationship with him as well. She spoke with Delrio, who was inside the residence and threatened to harm himself, damage the residence, and damage other random houses as well.

The woman left Delrio’s backpack with him and departed the scene.

Delrio was arrested on June 27, 2024, and is currently in the Tom Green County Jail being held without bond.
