Man Arrested for Playing Lewd "Husband and Wife" Game with 6-Year-Old

SAN ANGELO, TX— A San Angelo man has been arrested for sexually abusing a child in a game he calls “Husband and Wife”.

Joseph Montanio, 60, of San Angelo, was arrested for Aggravated Sexual Abuse of a Child.

According to court documents, on June 21, 2024, investigators were dispatched to the San Angelo Police Station, located at 401 East Beauregard Avenue in reference to an aggravated sexual assault of a child case that occurred in San Angelo.

Investigators met with the original outcry witness who stated that a 6-year-old child she knew made an outcry of being sexually assaulted by Montanio. The witness said the child had been staying with Montanio since May 24, 2024, and said he requested the child play a game called “Husband and Wife” with him.

“Husband and Wife” consisted of Montanio committing sexual acts with the child victim. Audio footage of Montanio asking to “smell” the child’s private area was also produced.

A forensic interview with the child victim where she said Montanio asked to play the game, but the child refused. Montanio begged the victim and she eventually agreed. He assaulted the child in his bedroom and performed several sexual acts on the 6-year-old.

Also, during the interview, the child victim stated the Montanio played “Husband and Wife” with her three times.

Montanio was arrested on June 21, 2024, and is currently an inmate at the Tom Green County Jail being held on $202,000 bond.
