SAN ANGELO, TX— A San Angelo woman has been indicted for punching a cop in the face.
Amber Slough, 40, of San Angelo, has been indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for assault of a peace officer after hitting a cop in the face.
Body cam footage was reviewed and according to court documents, on March 31, 2024, a San Angelo police officer was driving his patrol vehicle in the 3700 block of West Beauregard when he observed a person standing in the middle of the unit block of South Oxford Drive. The individual was obstructing the flow of traffic and yelling.
The officer activated his emergency red and blue lights, stopped, and exited his patrol vehicle in order to make contact with this individual. When the officer gave her an order to walk towards him, she ignored him and walked away, yelling obscenities.
Then, the officer approached the woman and placed a handcuff on her right wrist as she was walking away from him. When he went to handcuff her left wrist, she turned around and struck the officer in the face with a closed fist. The officer was able to gain control of the woman and she was later identified as Slough. The investigator went to the jail to interview Slough about the assault, and she allegedly did not want to talk about the incident.
Slough was arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Jail on March 31, 2024, and is currently an inmate being held on $40,000 bond.
