Suspect at Large After Attempted Murder on Interstate 20

 

COLORADO CITY, TX — A man was shot on Interstate 20 at milepost 224 this Friday morning and the shooter is at large. 

This happened around 10:30 a.m., leading to a statewide alert for the suspect.

According to information from the Texas Department of Public Safety, Mitchell County Sheriff’s responded to a 911 call and found a shooting victim from Azle, Texas, with a single gunshot wound. 

The man was in stable condition and able to communicate with law enforcement. He was transported to Lubbock for medical treatment.

Based on information from the victim, authorities are searching for a possible Hispanic female suspect with brown-black hair and tattoos on her right forearm. She was last seen wearing a blue shirt, black shorts, and a gray sweatshirt. The suspect reportedly drove a black 2012 GMC Yukon with the Texas license plate number: SXF2364.

The Texas Rangers are assisting the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation. 

Authorities urge anyone with information about the suspect or who may have witnessed the shooting to contact the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office at 325-728-5261.
