Wall ISD Band Teacher Arrested for Online Solicitation of a Minor

WALL, TX - A Wall ISD employee has been arrested today for online solicitation of a minor. 

Information from Wall ISD states that the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Department arrested Joshua Carroll as a result of an investigation regarding the electronic sexual solicitation of a minor. 

According to the 33-year-old's Facebook, he was an assistant band director for the school district and a Texas Tech University graduate. 

“Wall ISD has taken all necessary steps to ensure the safety of all students,” a statement from the school district read. “This incident did not directly harm any of our students. If it is found that your child was involved in this incident you will be contacted by a member of the Wall ISD administration team.”

This is a criminal investigation being conducted by the Sheriff’s Department as well as a confidential personnel matter being investigated by Wall ISD, information stated. 

The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office said that on March 20, 2024, the office was contacted by administrative personnel of the Wall Independent School District about several underage female students receiving sexually explicit communications from an unknown individual.

This unknown individual was utilizing TikTok and a texting app. The Sheriff's Office started a criminal investigation about the complaint.

Investigators learned the individual communicated using sexually explicit language describing sexual conduct, attempted to solicit sexually explicit photographs from underage females, and provided a pornographic photographic image to a female child younger than 15 years of age.  

During the investigation, the suspect was identified as Joshua Alexander Carroll, 33, of San Angelo.

The sheriff confirmed Carroll was employed as an assistant band director by the Wall Independent School District since January 2022.

On Tuesday, May 14, 2024, Carroll was arrested by investigators from the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office, and a search warrant was conducted for electronic devices under his care at his residence and those located inside Wall High School.  

Through this investigation, several underage students have been confirmed as having been targeted by this suspect.

The Tom Green County Sheriff's Office requests anyone who has information or believes their child to have been solicited by this individual to contact the Criminal Investigation Division of the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office at 325-655-8111. 

Carrol was arrested on May 13, 2024, and is currently in the Tom Green County Jail being held without bond.
