Squatter Shot and Killed in Standoff with Abilene SWAT Team

ABILENE— An Abilene squatter has been killed in a shoot-out with police after she fired at them during a standoff.

A woman who was squatting in a shed on the 1000 block of Grape Street on Monday has been killed after firing shots at another woman and then police as well.

At 9:00 p.m. Monday, the victim said to police that a squatter lived in a shed behind her house. When she let her dog outside, the suspect in the shed fired a gun at her. Then, the victim ran away, and the suspect fired another round and hit her house.

Officers arrived and told the suspect to exit the shed, but she barricaded herself inside and was apparently intoxicated.

Eventually, the Abilene SWAT Team started a standoff and the suspect became angry with them. She fired shots at the officers which they returned fire, and she was killed in the gun fight.

The woman killed in the gunfire has not yet been identified.
