Parents Charged For Fatal Beating of Twin Infants

HOUSTON, TX - A Houston man and woman have been accused of beating their twin 5-week-old girls to death.

Angelina Belinda Calderon and Fernando Vega, both 21 years old, are charged with two counts each of injury to a child causing bodily injury.

According to reports, police are basing these charges on the autopsy report that revealed multiple bruises and fractures. Medical examiners concluded that the infants were repeatedly beaten with a blunt object.

A week after her twin daughters' death, Calderon started a GoFundMe page and raised over $1,200, but now police say she and the girls' dad are responsible for their deaths. 

Houston Police examined the home on Houston's Southeast side. 

Once inside, they found the twin infants, Massail and Mirena Vega, unresponsive. The children's father, identified by court documents as Vega, told investigators that he saw them in their crib, not breathing, after taking his mother to work. He had left them in the care of his grandmother. 

According to information, their skin was discolored, and they had multiple bruises. One girl had fractures to a femur, numerous rib fractures, and a fractured clavicle. The autopsy says they died from multiple blunt-force injuries. 

Police say both girls were malnourished and that some of their injuries were days or even weeks old.
