San Angelo Man Arrested for Threatening Woman with an Assault Weapon

SAN ANGELO— A San Angelo man has been arrested for threatening a woman in her home with a firearm.

Carlos Trujillo-Lopez, 34, of San Angelo, has been arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. According to court documents, on March 30, 2024, at around 1 a.m., a call for service was received by the San Angelo Police Department regarding an armed subject. Officers met the victim in her house in the 3700 block of Crockett St.

The victim said that she received a knock on her door and discovered a guy standing on her porch. He wore a black ski-mask, a black and white jersey with the words “SUCK IT” displayed on it. Ominously, however, he was also holding an assault weapon.

The armed man told the victim that his wife and daughter has been frightened by a black passenger car which he believed to be tied to the victim’s residence. The man demanded the female victim to tell “her people” to stay away and that if they failed to do so that he would “spray” everybody. The victim said that the man described a brick residence with a red Chevrolet to be his.

As the armed man talked while standing on the front door stoop, the victim claimed he would point the weapon at the her. She told police that she feared for her life. Also, while the confrontation was occurring, a white SUV vehicle was waiting on the roadway for the armed man. This man was short in stature and possible of Hispanic or Asian descent.

Police identified a brick residence in the area as the woman told police the man described. When police found the house, parked in front was a white SUV.  Although no one answered the door when police knocked on the door, police noted in court documents that their preliminary investigation was closed.

Police looked at county records to learn who the owner of the brick residence was. Police learned  Carlos Trujillo-Lopez owned the house.

Then, officers pulled a different case from September 18, 2023, where Trujillo was contacted by a San Angelo police officer. Body cam footage showed Trujillo seated in a red Chevy pickup that was registered to him. This was similar to what the victim had told officers.

Police located another incident involving Trujillo when he was contacted on March 29, 2024, around 9:30 p.m., where he was wearing a black and white jersey with the words “SUCK IT” displayed. This matched the description of the man who the victim said threatened her.

A follow up interview was performed with the victim where she went into additional detail about the weapon Trujillo was allegedly holding which was possibly outfitted as an AR pistol. Also, during the confrontation, the victim’s dogs began barking, which she turned her attention to their location.

The victim thought Trujillo took this as a sign that she was disregarding him, and he pointed the weapon at her. Then, she heard a click sound which the investigator noted as a possible dry fire or the manipulation of a selector switch. The victim also feared that since her husband was not home, his return during the confrontation could lead to him being harmed as well. With this, police had learned and heard enough and moved to apprehend Trujillo.

Trujillo was arrested on April 5, 2024, and was released the next day on April 6, 2024, on $75,000 bond.
