SAN ANGELO— A San Angelo man has been sentenced for continuously abusing a child under the age of five.
John Suksta, 32, of San Angelo, has taken a plea deal for Indecency with a Child.
According to court documents, on March 12, 2021, San Angelo police were dispatched to the 1600 block of Iowa Street regarding a report of sexual abuse of a child. Officers contacted the complainant who said that the child victim made an outcry of sexual abuse by Suksta that same day while she was with him at his residence on the 2700 block of Southland Boulevard.
The complainant said the child told her that Suksta made her perform a sexual act on him in the bathroom of his residence.
The child, who under the age of 10 at the time, repeated the accusation of sexual abuse during a forensic interview. The victim said that Suksta was getting ready to take a shower and called the child into the bathroom. Once in the bathroom, Suksta exposed himself then licked the child’s hand and placed it on his private parts then forced the child to perform a sexual act on him.
The child recalled Suksta sexually abusing her since she was about four years old in several different ways. The child said they had been living with Suksta on the 7900 block of Sentinel Circle at the time.
The child victim also brought up the previous day, March 11, 2021, where Suksta made the child touch his private area over his clothing and video evidence of this occasion was obtained. In the video, Suksta and the child were seen lying in a bed whispering to each other before the abuse takes place. This incident occurred on North Marie Street in San Angelo.
Later, the child spoke about numerous incidents of being sexually abused by Suksta from the time she was around four years.
Suksta was arrested on March 17, 2021, and released the next day on March 18, 2021, on $153,018 bond. He was indicted in July 2021 and now taken a plea deal. In exchange for a guilty plea, Suksta has been sentenced to 17 years in prison.
